Formlabs designs and manufactures powerful, intuitive and affordable 3D printing systems for engineers, designers, and artists, and is establishing a new benchmark in professional desktop 3D printing. Founded in 2012 by a team of engineers and designers from the MIT Media Lab, Formlabs made history when it launched a record-breaking M Kickstarter campaign. Its 3D printing technologies have powered the prototypes and designs of a range of ambitions – from medical devices in the operating room, wearables, wireless headphones, to the world’s first 3D-printed animated film. Whether it’s to rapidly and cheaply make a working, high-quality prototype to creating a film from 2,500 printed parts, inventors and entrepreneurs have found creative uses of 3D printing to launch their business ideas straight from their desktops. Drawing from Formlabs’ many stories over the years, Colin Raney will share ideas with startups at V2V on how to turn their ideas into startup reality through professional desktop 3D printing.
